If you no longer plan to volunteer in the parish, please call the
Safe Environment Coordinator at 724-775-4111 ext. 226
or send an email to [email protected]
notifying me to make your file INACTIVE with the Diocese.
This will keep our volunteer database accurate and eliminate emails
and letters asking you to update your clearances.
The Diocese of Pittsburgh has set up a new database with Virtus Online. This new database makes it possible for parish volunteers and employees to update their contact information and check the status of clearances.
There are opportunities to complete the Protecting God's Children courses on the VIRTUS site. Go to virtus.org to review your account. You will need to log in with your User ID and Password. Please make sure that your email address is accurate. If you need assistance or have questions about clearances, contact Andrea Korcan-Buzza, Safe Environment Coordinator, at 724-775-4111 ext. 226 or [email protected]
In Saint Paul's first letter to the Corinthians, he called the members of that local Church and each of us in our day to "Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong. Your every act should be done with love." (1Cor.16:13-140).
It is our responsibility as adults to ensure we do all we can to protect our youth. If you are interested in volunteering at Saints Peter and Paul school and/or parish in any capacity, it is a requirement that all documents be on file in our offices. Please click on the page connected to our Safe Environment menu and read the directions carefully to place your application on the Diocesan database. If you want more detailed information, go to www.diopitt.org and scroll down to see all required forms on the web page's right side.
Another important element of the Safe Environment Policy of the Diocese of Pittsburgh is the Protecting God’s Children online course. On September 1, 2020, the Diocese of Pittsburgh implemented a compliance recertification training program for all clergy, employees, and volunteers. This recertification training is a follow-up from Protecting God's Children. The re-certification course is Protecting God’s Children 3.2 and Vulnerable Adults. Every 3 years, everyone will be required to recertify.
If you do not have a computer, please contact the Safe Environment Coordinator to set up an appointment to complete the Protecting God’s Children 3.2 training. It usually takes 70-90 minutes to complete. There are two computers available at the Saint Cecilia office.
